Exciting news from Going Beyond the Pink! We are very happy and proud to announce that our executive director, Kara Kenan, has been selected to attend the 2022 ASCO conference as a Patient Advocate AND to attend the National Coalition of Cancer Survivor’s Symposium as a representative of the Cancer Policy & Advocacy Team.
ASCO
Founded in 1964, the American Society of Clinical Oncology is the world's leading professional organization for physicians and oncology professionals caring for people with cancer. Through research, education, and the promotion of high quality, equitable patient care, ASCO sets the global standards for cancer research and the practice of oncology.
This year’s conference, held in Chicago from June 3-7, will reveal insights and results from cutting-edge research (more than 2,500 presentations!), share personal stories focused on equity, global health and innovation, and provide unparalleled opportunities for networking, mentorship and resources. The 2022 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting's theme: Advancing Equitable Cancer Care Through Innovation.
NCCS Cancer Policy and Advocacy Team
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship Cancer Policy & Advocacy Team (CPAT) is a nationally recognized program for survivors and caregivers to learn about pressing policy issues that affect quality cancer care in order to be engaged as advocates in public policy around the needs of cancer survivors. Led by the CPAT Steering Committee, CPAT provides cancer survivors and caregivers with tools and training that build upon their personal experiences to become effective advocates to improve cancer care.
The CPAT webinars, newsletters, online forum, and conferences offer advocates different ways to learn and to discuss current issues, programs, and policies that affect the cancer community and to take action. The CPAT symposium will take place June 22-24 in Washington, D.C.
Kenan shares she is "... both thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to represent Going Beyond the Pink and our breast cancer community at a national level, and excited to share what I learn from these experiences with breast cancer patients and survivors in Southeastern North Carolina."
