How We Serve

Going Beyond the Pink works directly with breast cancer patients (newly diagnosed and in treatment), survivors, and caregivers in the Southeastern NC region, providing:

  • care bags

  • support resources

  • patient navigation

  • community referrals

  • health & wellness workshops

  • online education hub

Going Beyond the Pink helps women & men with breast cancer gain a supportive community, regain a sense of control, improve their overall health, reduce their risk of recurrence, and lower overall breast cancer mortality rates.

  • Patients

A woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes.

According to the American Psychological Association, mortality rates were found to be nearly "26 times higher in patients with depressive symptoms and 39 times higher in patients who had been diagnosed with major depression."

  • Survivors

One in three cancer survivors suffer from chronic pain.

75% of cancer patients report experiencing cognitive impairment (difficulty multi-tasking, inability to remember conversations, difficulty finding words, difficulty focusing) as a result of treatment.

  • Caregivers

Support systems are critical to positive outcomes.

Studies indicated that effective support systems result in up to 64% improved survivability rates and decreasing risk of recurrence by up to 48%.
