If you’ve had a mastectomy, or any surgical procedure during breast cancer treatment, you might have found that it can be challenging to find comfortable clothing that is both functional and stylish enough to make you feel confident at the same time. The same goes for swimwear, which is why we’ve curated a guide to all you need to know about mastectomy swimwear so that you can better find great products to boost your summertime wardrobe.

Things to Consider When Looking for Mastectomy Swimwear

  • Look for irritant-free fabrics: After surgery, the skin surrounding your breast area may be more sensitive than before, so it’s important to look for swimwear with a more breathable and seamless fabric that reduces the risk of irritation.

  • The Fabric should be durable and dry quickly: It’s crucial to remember to protect your skin from further damage from UV rays and water that contains chlorine or salt. Lightweight fabrics that dry quickly and can protect more sensitive areas from the sun are ideal.

  • Built-in pockets are your friend: Finding swimwear that is flattering and accommodating to different breast forms is important, which is why built in pockets are great for padding or silicone inserts.

  • Confidence is Key: The swimwear you wear after surgery should be just as stylish and comfortable as any other swimwear. Look for quality fabrics that fit your taste and also make you feel confident!
